Kiwi is a small fruit from Actinidia vines with fuzzy brown skin and bright green or golden flesh. It is eaten fresh, added to fruit salads, or blended into smoothies and juices. Kiwi provides water, fiber, and vitamin C but is naturally acidic.
Fruit trays and drink mixes often pair kiwi with citrus, syrups, or sugar. Dried and candied kiwi products are much more concentrated in sugar than fresh slices. These processed forms are less suitable for pets than plain ripe flesh.
The peel and dense center can be harder to chew for some pets, and larger servings may loosen stool due to fiber and acidity. Small seed content is usually tolerated, but portion size still matters. Ripe soft fruit is generally easier than firm unripe pieces.
For pets, offer only small pieces of plain ripe flesh and avoid sweetened kiwi products or syrup-packed mixes. Discard peel trims and stem ends right after prep.
