Plain snow peas are okay in small amounts. The pod is flat and thin, with peas inside barely bigger than a pinhead, so a snow pea is really "eat the pod" more than "eat the peas."
Also called mangetout, French for "eat all," snow peas are picked young before the peas inside fill out. Sold fresh or frozen, they turn up constantly in stir-fries and are usually cooked only briefly to keep some bite.
Watch out for takeout-style stir-fry sauce — soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil are all things to keep away from dogs and cats. A plain, unsauced snow pea is a different matter.
Wash the pods before serving and cut the larger ones down, especially for cats and small dogs that might otherwise try to swallow one whole.
